Bishop Stuart University (BSU)

BSU is a private, not-for-profit; multi-campus university located in Mbarara district, approximately 295kms southwest of Kampala, Uganda’s capital. Founded in 2002, the University has a department of nursing that was established in 2009 with four major programs a) Bachelor’s degree in nursing science, b) Diploma in Nursing, c) Diploma in Nursing Extension (DNE) an in-service training course, and d) Diploma in Midwifery Extension (DME) also an in-service training course. The department has 150 nursing students, and a community based education program that works with the village health teams and community health workers to promote health and improve livelihoods at the community level focusing majorly on prevention of infectious Diseases including HIV/AIDS.
