Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital (MRRH)

MRRH is an approximately 300-bed academic hospital affiliated with MUST. It is the largest teaching and referral hospital for southwestern Uganda, which has a population of nine million people living in a predominantly rural, agrarian setting. MRRH provides general and specialized care and has capacity to carry out diagnostic and therapeutic investigations. MRRH clinical departments include outpatient, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Anesthesia, Microbiology, Pathology, Radiology, Pediatrics and Child Health, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Pharmacy and Dental. The hospital has multiple specialists and sub-specialists, and houses clinical care committees including Infection Prevention, Maternal Perinatal Death Surveillance and Review (MPDSR), Quality Improvement, and Drugs and Therapeutic. The hospital has the capacity for microbiological and histopathological specimen evaluation. MRRH’s fully-fledged pharmacy department stocks and supplies essential medicines to clinical departments for patient care. The TUITAH trainees will do their practicums at MRRH
